PRESSED FLOWER WORKSHOP
AT MELTON CATTLE MARKET

Pressed Flower Workshop

During a busy Saturday at Melton Mowbray Makers Market, I hosted a pressed flower collage workshop for all ages and abilities. I provided examples and materials; including homegrown and hand-dried flowers from my garden and allotment. Attendees had one hour to indulge themselves in this creative session.

"Martha really enjoyed the pressed flower workshop with Holly. She spent an hour creating a beautiful horse and was really pleased with how it turned out. Holly is friendly, and approachable and was there to help all the children. Martha came away feeling inspired and really happy with her piece of art. I want a go next time!"

Sammi, Martha's Mum

"My 9 year old daughter and her friend attended the pressed flower collage workshop and absolutely loved it. They created beautiful flower artwork and thoroughly enjoyed some quiet creative time. A big hit all round!"

SPIRITUAL SPA
WOMEN'S NIGHT

I teamed up with Steph of Healed Healthy Whole and Vanessa of Shine Wellbeing to facilitate an evening of relaxation, self-care and creativity, for a group of women from our church.

Steph curated the evening around Psalm 139, whilst Vanessa guided us through relaxation techniques and offered amazing head massages. I ran a creative station that people could use as and when they wanted. My aim was for everyone to tap into their creativity, express what they felt God was saying to them and enjoy the process.

I was overwhelmed at first but Holly gave me some amazing ideas and I ended up creating something really nice! Glad I didn't quit! Thank you Holly.

Thanks Holly! Beautiful range of crafting items and homegrown pressed flowers, with encouragement to enjoy what we were doing and be ourselves

Leah

"I first met Holly back in 2020 when we worked together.  When Holly told me she did arts and crafts with disabled children and adults I pounced as my daughter loves messy time.  The first project Holly and Leah did together was a turning a cement mixing spot into a sensory aid!  Leah thoroughly enjoyed the project and making choices as to what was going on the tray. The end project is amazing and Leah loves all the different textures. Holly is very patient and understanding and involves Leah in all the decision making, despite Leah not been able to communicate very well.  Holly is passionate about her work and it shows in all that she does.  Leah loves her craft time with Holly. If you are looking for someone to do crafts with family members, Holly comes with a 5 star recommendation, not just from myself but also from my daughter!"

I support Leah and her family by taking her to and from school twice a week and by providing personal care in the evenings throughout the week.

I have also started working on her wheelchair-accessible sensory garden each Saturday. Leah and I also tend to have a craft session once every four weeks.

Max

"I am the single mother of a young man with multiple extra needs. I have a very positive attitude and strive to ensure he has every support and opportunity available. Finding staff who understand isn't always easy. The home environment can be difficult to work in; maintaining professionalism within the family situation is a fine line. Consequently, we pick our staff with care. Finding Holly is a definite success! Her past experience is a bonus but an open and fresh approach brings many new ideas into our lives. We are all interested in creative pursuits and Holly certainly helps with that. Max loves art and enjoys many hours of painting and decoupage, among a variety of other media. Then onto one of Holly's other skills - getting Max out there on Instagram. We really value Holly as an employee but also as a family friend. Highly recommend!"

Claire, Max's Mum.

I worked for Max and his family for three years and we spent many days on fun projects together. Even if Max didn't want to participate, he enjoyed watching. One of our favourite projects was creating nautical-themed things for Max's bedroom. We made bunting and matching cushions, a mixed media storage box, shell cloche and framed nautical knots.

Kile

"I'm a proud mum to my son who has severe developmental delay, non-verbal Autism and uses a wheelchair. In 2017,  I struggled to find respite for Kile- someone I could trust to take care of the most important person in my life, who could keep him safe and happy. After hearing about her past experience, qualifications and knowledge about supporting people with additional needs, I asked Holly to be our respite worker. Since then, she has taken Kile out in public doing all sorts of activities and I'm so glad Kile has a respite worker like Holly. She really is incredible; all I want is what's best for my son and having Holly as his respite worker, I know he has the best... a truly lovely person who has my utmost respect and gratitude"

Margaret

"Thank you Holly for supporting our mum. She really looks forward to your visits and enjoys your company and support. We are so pleased to have found someone who shares her interests with such a genuine and caring nature. Helping with household duties, daily activities and of course the fabulous arts and crafts you do together, really help to foster her independence. enrich her daily life and mental activity. Thank you so much!"

Glass painting

Margaret and I spent on average, 5 hours a week creating whatever took her fancy. We enjoyed picking flowers out of her garden, pressing them and using them to create many beautiful designs, including decorating a poem written by her granddaughter. Glass painting, making candles, drawing and painting are just some of the other mediums we liked using in our sessions together.

"Holly has now been helping me for three years and during a very difficult time, she has continued to be a reliable help and comfort. She is remarkably versatile and she will use her skills flexibly. For example, tending to the garden and the wildlife. She has proved to be invaluable and a joy to be with. She is both caring, competent and flexible. She willingly copes with anything which may arise from unexpected callers to squirrels in the chimney!"

Rose Mary

"Holly provided much needed care and support for my Mum living with Alzheimer's Disease. Mum needed more support than family could provide to be able to stay at home, but was unlikely to settle well with the brief visits of a regular care package, so to have Holly visit for a longer spell with the flexibility to go out and about was perfect. Holly adapted to how Mum was feeling on each visit and took into account her dog Ollie at all times, respecting her wish to be as independent as possible. Holly made her feel that she was in charge at all times, being mindful of her preferences and wishes. I found Holly professional and efficient at all times, letting me know what they had been doing during visits and any concerns. I would not hesitate to recommend her services"

Guy

"Holly has been supporting my father, who has Parkinson's, for over six months. She helps first thing in the morning prepping his food for the day, sorting washing and with personal care. She is professional and reliable and keeps my family updated if any issues arise. I would recommend Holly; she has given our family peace of mind and is a real lifeline for my father."
